    • Misión

    To empower wounded, injured and ill veterans to fully live their lives and honor our fallen military heroes. This 28 foot wide by 6 foot tall American flag symbolizes the shape of the flag when draped on a fallen service members casket. It is formed of over 7000 dog tags of all those who have fallen in the War on Terror. There are 50 gold stars honoring all gold star families nationwide. Displayed in front of the flag is a battlefield cross sculpted from mahogany wood by veteran artist Alicia Dietz. ​ Tags are in alphabetical order ranging from 11SEPT 2001 to 31 Dec 2017; thereafter the tags are in chronological order of the date Killed in Action (KIA). Sadly, as the war continues we will continue to fill in the blank tags at the end of the flag.

    VAU is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit run by veterans. We cover our less than 5% overhead costs through board donations to maximize every donated dollar towards our programs and those we serve. Founded in 2013 with a focus on providing much-needed support to disabled veterans and their family members through accessible retreats and adaptive sports/recreation.

    The 2nd part of our mission is to honor our fallen heroes from the war on terror as well as their gold star families. We completed our 1st rendition of the Fallen Heroes Memorial in 2018 and it has travelled to 200+ locations nationwide to bring awareness of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and the American flag.

    We completed a 2nd memorial flag in 2022. It is ststioned in St Louis and travels to locations in central and western US regions.
