Over 2 billion people worldwide live in unsafe, unhealthy poverty housing. Such living conditions rob families of the ability to earn an income or educate their children, to the extent that they are trapped in poverty, vulnerable and dependent, for generation after generation.
Habitat for Humanity aims to break the cycle of poverty through enabling people to have a safe, decent place to live. We work with communities in over 90 countries, helping them to tackle housing poverty in their neighbourhoods in the ways most appropriate to them. We do this through developing their capacities and capabilities, so that they are active participants in the process rather than passive recipients of aid.
Since 1976, we have helped more than 2 million people.
