Acerca de

The North Central Conservation District (NCCD) of Connecticut is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting private landowners and municipalities with environmental information and services. Soil and Water Conservation Districts were created on a federal level in the 1930’s to combat widespread erosion on public and private land. Connecticut’s five Soil and Water Conservation Districts have statutory authority, under CGS Sec. 22a-315, “to assist the Commissioner of Environmental Protection in identifying and remedying the problems of soil and water erosion.”

NCCD is governed by a volunteer board of directors consisting of local landowners with expertise and interest in the management and protection of our natural resources. This independent structure is a key to our ability to provide objective reports. We are financed by municipal support, Clean Water Act Section 319 nonpoint source grants, State of CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection funding, an annual Plant and Seedling Sale fundraiser, private grants, and fee for service work.
