The Charles River Public Internet Center (CRPIC) is a 16-year old private 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Waltham, Massachusetts that advances Internet literacy and technology training by empowering people with the technical skills necessary for economic success. CRPIC offers a variety of programs for the general public, unemployed/underemployed individuals, senior citizens, youth, low to moderate income immigrants, local non-profit organizations, as well as area businesses. The Center, a community technology center, provides the public with a welcoming space equipped with 15 computers connected to the Internet that can be used free of charge. We offer informal assistance on an as-needed basis to the public, and also provide free, one-on-one, scheduled tutoring sessions. CRPIC also provides a variety of low-cost computer classes on many software packages and applications. We are a private occupational school licensed by the MA Division of Public Licensure. Our primary service area is greater Boston and the MetroWest suburbs, however, we continue to work with organizations and agencies throughout the New England Region. CRPIC typically serves over 2,000 people from over 30 communities each year. We are currently open to the public from noon to 8:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
CRPIC is located in beautifully restored mill building on the scenic Charles River in Waltham, Massachusetts. Three computer labs, a conference room, and break room with kithchen facilities are available for rent by corporation and organizations at market rates. Rental income from the labs provides a percentage of the revenue required to sustain our public service work. Facility rentals are available on daily, weekly or longer term basis.
