Tallac Historic Site

  • Misión

To preserve historic and cultural artifacts significant to the Lake Tahoe Basin as well as our national heritage, so that they may be interpretated, enjoyed, and celebrated for future generations.

    Acerca de

The Tallac Historic site is managed through collaborative partnership between the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and the Great Basin Institute, the site's interpretatvie association. The Great Basin Institute oversees a robust volunteer program, providing more than 6,000 hours of labor to historic preservation and public recreation each year.

The Tallac Historic Site consists of 21 historic structures, built between 1894 and 1923. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, the Pope and Baldwin Estates preserve the era of the roaring 20s for public interpretation. The site includes a free museum and grounds walk, with more than 20 exhibits.
