Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's.

The South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association serves the entire state through a network of regional offices in Columbia, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson.

We offer a variety of educational literature, and our informed staff can make referrals to helpful community resources.

Care Consultation
Sometimes you just need to talk things out. Through personal consultation, the Alzheimer’s Association helps persons with Alzheimer’s and their families to maximize the care they receive and navigate difficult situations.

Caregiver Support Groups
Support groups are offered across the state to help caregivers cope and better understand the disease process. When arranged in advance, our chapter can pay for a sitter to help family caregivers attend meetings up to twice a month.Click here to view meeting details by county.

Early Stage Dementia Programs
A diagnosis of dementia is life-altering. Early stage dementia programs are designed to help persons living in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and their caregivers learn the basics of living with the disease while sharing experiences with others in a safe and engaging setting. Caregiver Respite
The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Respite Program can provide financial assistance to dementia caregivers, giving them a much-needed break by helping them arrange short-term care through in-home care agencies, adult day care centers, or short-term residential care. Community Education
We offer conferences and workshops throughout the year for family caregivers, professionals in the field, and anyone interested. View our education calendaronline or request a presentation in your community.

Advocacy
Alzheimer advocates play an important role in improving the quality of care and quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families by working to improve dementia care and services; improve access to community-based care; improve quality care in residential settings; and expand funding for research and public programs serving people with dementia.
