We are educating about and promoting the idea of Jury Democracy, which is a new system of government where we hold a trial on every or at least the most important bills before a large jury of randomly invited citizens, and every bill must be approved by a majority vote of the jurors in order to become law.

    Acerca de

Jury Democracy is a form of deliberative democracy using citizen juries. The jury size would be 400 to 2,000 for the federal level, which is large enough to be a statistically valid representation of the population. The jury would not write bills but vote up or down on what is proposed to them. Both sides would get the time they need to introduce evidence and make their arguments. The jurors would break into smaller groups to discuss the issue and learn from each other's life experiences and viewpoints. Then the jurors would vote by secret ballot. Bills would still require approval by the elected legislature as well, but any one legislator, whether in the minority or majority could introduce a bill to a jury, and if a bill passes a jury, the elected legislature must hold a recorded vote on it. The majority leader could not bury the bill.
