Capital City Symphony

  • Acerca de

Capital City Symphony (CCS), led by Artistic Director Victoria Gau and performing in the vibrant heart of Washington, D.C., explores the best of the symphonic repertoire through the 21st century with 100 volunteer musicians of all ages.  As an Arts Partner at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in the thriving H Street NE corridor, CCS strategically and intentionally makes classical music performances accessible in an area of the city that has been traditionally underserved, both economically and culturally.

Maestra Gau, music director of Cantate Chamber Singers and former associate conductor of National Philharmonic, has led a renaissance in the orchestra, enhancing its reputation for artistic excellence.  CCS’s typical season includes a dynamic blend of full-orchestra performances of major works, chamber music, family-oriented music, and innovative collaborations, featuring diverse repertoire from classical mainstays to 21st century premieres to cross-genre celebrations of jazz and go-go.  By elevating the artistic excellence already within our community and sharing it with our community, CCS continues a half-century tradition of orchestral innovation in D.C.-area neighborhoods.
