Reading and Writing Project - Columbia University Teachers College

Acerca de

The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project has been working for twenty-seven years to support expert literacy instruction in New York City public schools and in schools across the country. With fifty-five full time staff developers at the TCRWP, the Project works directly and intensely with teachers, school leaders and districts to enhance their literacy curricula and improve the teaching of reading and writing. The Project also functions as a think-tank, developing state-of-the art ideas and methods that influence literacy education across the world.

This year, the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project works with 356 NYC schools as well as over 100 school districts across the country. In each of our member schools, staff developers join teachers to establish rigorous and engaging reading and writing workshops to foster dedicated and enthusiastic readers and writers. In our twenty-seven years, the project has reached over 1,000,000 NYC public school students. In addition, over 60,000 teachers and administrators have attended one of our weeklong summer institutes at Teachers College. The institutes include keynote addresses by celebrated educators and authors and are excellent opportunities for educators from all over the world to come together and share their ideas. We hold similar institutes during the school year – one for teachers during Presidents’ week, and one in March for literacy coaches.
