Acerca de

The Paley Center for Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with locations in New York and Los Angeles, leads the discussion about the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, radio, and emerging platforms for the professional community and media-interested public. Drawing upon its curatorial expertise, renowned programming archive, and close relationships with the leaders of the media community, the Paley Center examines the intersections between media and society. The general public can access the Paley Archive – including special African-American, Hispanic, and LGBT collections – and participate in programs that explore and celebrate the creativity, the innovations, the personalities, and the leaders who are shaping media. Through the global programs of its Media Council and International Council, the Paley Center also serves as a neutral setting where media professionals can engage in discussion and debate about the evolving media landscape. Previously known as The Museum of Television & Radio, the Paley Center was founded in 1975 by William S. Paley, a pioneering innovator in the industry. The Paley Center for Media promotes the understanding of media and its impact on our lives, culture, and society. Its collection of over 120,000 television and radio programs and commercials from more than seventy countries is a treasury of American and international cultural, political, and social history from 1918 to the present.

The Paley Center for Media, founded by William S. Paley, opened its first facility in New York City in 1976, and a second location in Los Angeles in 1996. Each year, the general public and members of all aspects of the media industry come to both Paley Center locations to access programming and to participate in a broad range of seminars, screenings, and events.

Its education program reaches over 40,000 students and family members annually, both on site and through videoconferencing. Serving a range of students from elementary school through the university level, the education program fosters critical thinking through the interpretation and analysis of television and radio programs found in the Paley Center's collection.

The Paley Center also serves as a neutral setting in which media professionals can examine the most pressing issues facing their industry. Through the global programs of the Paley Center's Media Council and the International Council, the Paley Center is greatly enhancing its services to senior executives in a cross section of diverse yet increasingly converging communications industries.
