Ragland Institute

The Ragland Institute formed in 2025 during a time of cultural tumult with a vision of providing adult continuing education to support the growth of the whole mature person. We believe a modern holistic approach to education capable of transforming lives

• integrates mind, body, and spirit modalities
• prioritizes creativity and adaptability over fixed solutions
• encourages responsible digital citizenship
• supports creative, hands on civic engagement
• views every student as a unique, creative being
• teaches methods for self-discovery and holistic self-care
• challenges students to discover and live their values.

Ragland Institute's founding faculty hold that the advanced development of the whole person requires creative experimentation and spiritual endeavor. Students share their gifts and creativity through at least one social practice internship that they select with their advisor and co-create with a participating organization. Social practice internships emphasize civic engagement such as volunteer organizations, nonprofit capacity building, or digital media projects.

Our non-degree granting certificate programs serve lifelong learning adults of all ages and academic levels. Students enroll in workshop-based, hybrid courses that combine online learning with hands on projects and in person connections. All workshops are held in the greater Spokane, Washington and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho areas. First cohort starts March 2026. Applications open December 1, 2025.
