The Thomas Paine Historical Association

The TPHA is the oldest historic association for the Father of the Age of Democratic Revolutions, established in 1884. We are the authority on the life, works, and legacy of Paine, and have been assisting scholars and authors for decades. Beyond our building's lecture series about Paien, we are looking to become more involved in direct action in things that interested him: democracy, collective action of workers, human rights for all people, and standing up to the powerful despots who seek to control humanity.

We have a building in New Rochelle, NY where we hold lectures and discussions about Paine. The building is also a museum on Paine. We are going to release this year, through Princeton University Press, a Collected Works of Paine that will add more than 300 unknown works to his catalogue and prove that this man was the most important non-scientist to ever live. He is the father of modern democracy and so much beyond. He fought for freedom in both the American and French Revolutions and tried to bring democracy to England, Ireland and many more. His aim was not to free only Europeans but all people. As he said "The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion".
