Providence Soup Kitchen provides hot lunch to the homeless and people in need.
Acerca de
Providence Soup Kitchen is a ministry of the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence. The sisters came to the United States in 1913 and have ministries in several states across the country. In Chicago, the sisters are known for their work among developmentally disabled adults.
Sr. Ann Schaffer, inspired by a talk given by their mother general, sought the help of Fr. Edwin Conway and the St. Stanislaus Kostka church to open the soup kitchen in 1986. More than 30 years later, the soup kitchen is still serving hot lunch to the homeless and people in need. The soup kitchen currently provides hot meals four days a week.
