  • Misión

To restore hope and transform the lives of vulnerable children in Uganda by breaking down barriers to education, improving health and nutrition, and building resilience through community-driven care, mentorship, and humanitarian support. We believe every child regardless of background, income, or circumstance has the right to be healthy, safe, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.

    Acerca de

CHOCU — Children Helping Other Children in Uganda — is a nonprofit, tax‑exempt charitable organization [501(c)(3)] founded with a simple but powerful vision: to serve one community at a time, starting with children in rural Uganda, and to create lasting change that ripples outward.

We were established to address the urgent and complex challenges faced by children in rural Uganda: lack of access to quality education, malnutrition, preventable illness, unsafe living conditions, and the absence of consistent support systems. Our work is rooted in the belief that when children are given the tools, care, and opportunities they deserve, they can break cycles of poverty and become leaders in their own communities.

    Our Core Values

    • Compassion – We lead with empathy, prioritizing the dignity and well-being of every child.
    • Integrity – We are transparent, accountable, and trustworthy in all our actions.
    • Collaboration – We partner with families, schools, local leaders, and global supporters to multiply impact.
    • Sustainability – We focus on solutions that endure, building capacity within communities rather than creating dependency.
    • Equity – We ensure that the most marginalized and at‑risk children are not left behind.

    Whom We Serve

    • Children from poor and broken families, especially those in rural areas with limited access to education and healthcare.
    • Students at risk of dropping out due to tuition holds, lack of supplies, or family hardship.
    • Families struggling with food insecurity, inadequate shelter, or limited access to social services.

    What We Do

    • Education Support – Covering tuition, providing school supplies, and mentoring students to help them stay engaged and succeed academically.
    • Nutrition & Health – Delivering better nutrition programs, distributing shoes to prevent disease, and connecting families to medical care.
    • Humanitarian Logistics – Coordinating international shipments of donated goods from the U.S. to Uganda, managing every step from port clearance to rural delivery.
    • Mentorship & Life Skills – Offering one‑on‑one guidance to help children navigate academic, personal, and career challenges.
    • Community Empowerment – Running parenting education, family services referrals, and rural development initiatives to strengthen the social fabric.

    How We Work

We combine local insight with international partnerships to ensure resources are used effectively. Our approach is hands‑on: from clearing containers at Mombasa to delivering shoes to a child in Butenzi Primary School, we manage the full chain of care. We measure success not just in goods delivered, but in lives changed — children staying in school, families becoming more self‑reliant, and communities gaining the tools to thrive.
