Wonder Years Centre of Excellence (WYCE)

WYCE (UK registered Charity n. 1089167 and Gambian NGO A78) has committed itself to supplement and compliment the efforts of the Government of the Republic of The Gambia in the provision of excellent gainful educational opportunities, primary healthcare, life skills and employment facilities.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES · To develop a system of schooling, where every child gets an equal opportunity to education · To provide local employment opportunities · To improve training opportunities for the local people · To develop primary healthcare facilities for the less privileged communities · To develop the skills of teenagers through skills centres · To make The Gambia a wealthier and healthier place for everyone

WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED? We currently have Early Years and Primary classrooms, a Health Centre providing Primary Health Care, a Bee Farm, a Tree Nursery, a Shop selling goods from the UK to generate funds, and a Lodge providing accommodation for working volunteers. Over 40 locals are directly benefiting from employment through our project and we are currently providing an education for 400 children aged between 3 and 12 years old.
