Founded in 2005, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball (PIFBS) increases access to baseball and softball by providing grants of equipment, ensuring that equipment is never a barrier to play. PIFBS believes that baseball and softball are more than just a game, that they have the power to change lives. Over the past 15+ years, PIFBS has expanded programming and partners to help more than 900,000 boys and girls play ball in every state in the U.S. and more than 100 countries internationally. PIFBS has averages 600+ projects each year, helping nearly 100,000 kids play ball annually through the following programs:

  • Domestic and International Equipment Grants—Designed to help leagues, teams, and community organizations around the world get the proper equipment to play baseball and softball. Grantees complete required annual reporting detailing the impact of the donation.
  • School Based Program—Launched in 2008, the School Based Program helps schools/districts stretch budgets, reduce fees, and shift funds to other areas such as transportation. Schools provide data on the number of students with improved grades/attendance during the season.
  • Disaster Relief Program—In times of tragedy, children are the most affected. Baseball/softball can help to restore a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. PIFBS has assisted with relief efforts in NY/NJ shoreline following Hurricane Sandy; Joplin, MO; the Gulf Coast region; Japan; and most recently, Puerto Rico.

Our vision is that equipment will never be a barrier to participation and that all children have equal access to opportunities to play ball. Since 2005, we have donated over $10 million in equipment to help over 900,000 kids gain access to baseball and softball in every state in the US and in over 100 countries worldwide.

As an intermediary, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball serves as the connector between industry leaders, stakeholders, and the community at large. PIFBS is grateful to work with many leaders in the baseball/softball world, organizations, and foundations who have a shared vision to give kids in under-resourced communities the opportunity to play baseball and softball regardless of their financial means. We are the leaders in our space, helping over 600 programs each year begin or expand their baseball or softball teams. PIFBS works closely with Major League Baseball, Little League, and other funding partners to identify and assist hundreds of programs across the country each year. In addition, PIFBS teams up with more than a dozen MLB club teams (Reds, Twins, Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Pirates, Brewers, A’s, White Sox, Braves, Cubs), the Youth Development Foundation, Wilson Sporting Goods, Easton, USA Baseball, and USA Softball in various capacities.
