Save Sibaya Conservation
Misión
We aim to save the last hippos living in Lake Sibaya, South Africa's largest fresh water lake and part of the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park, an UNECO world heritage site for biodiversity.
Acerca de
Our project started in 2016 when the hippo population on Lake Sibaya dropped from 472 hippos to just 7 individuals. Our main Focus is to monitor the remaining animals and document all the species found in our area. For the last 3 years we have been compiling an comprehensive data base of all the species found in the area. Up to date we have photographed , identified and cataloged over 15 different species with over 5500 observations. We also provide study support and take part in a range of conservation efforts.
