Kapani School Project

In 1986, the renowned Norman Carr, founder of Norman Carr Safaris, established the Kapani School Project, a non-profit organisation focused on expanding educational opportunities for students from Mfuwe, Zambia.

The Kapani School Project's earliest aims were to provide uniforms and books to as many children as possible. Today, with monetary and in-kind support from the Time + Tide Foundation, the Project sponsors over 80 students across all levels of education. Additionally, the Kapani School Project runs a Girls Club with the aim to enhance young girls' self-esteem and encourage them to stay academically focused throughout the challenges of adolescence. In 2016, the Kapani School Project partnered with the Bauleni Special Needs Project from Lusaka to initiate a home-based education programme for local children with physical and mental disabilities. Through this programme, the Bauleni facilitators recruited and trained volunteers from Mfuwe who devote time each week to helping handicapped children acquire the skills they need to live and grow healthily.
