Founded by Henry Snow in 1922 and located in Knowland Park since 1936, the Oakland Zoo has long recognized the importance of bringing the message of animal appreciation and conservation to children and adults. The Mission of the Oakland Zoo is to inspire respect for and stewardship of the natural world while providing a quality visitor experience.
