National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation

The National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD) is an active network of innovators who bring people together across political and ethnic divides to discuss contentious issues and move to agreement and action when possible. NCDD represents 2,000 organizations and individuals -- facilitators, consultants, nonprofit leaders, public administrators, university professors, students, and others -- and reaches many thousands more through our social media efforts and our monthly email update, which now has 33,000 subscribers.

Since 2002, NCDD has served as a hub, a resource clearinghouse, a convenor, and a facilitative leader for this growing community of practice. The NCDD website is home to thousands of resources, news posts and timely opportunities to help our members and others engage citizens across divides. Our biennial national conferences have attracted 2,400 attendees -- including many of this field's top leaders.

Though NCDD is a U.S.-based organization, we have well over a hundred members from outside the U.S., representing 40 countries. All of our members are dedicated to expanding the capacity of people with divergent views from all walks of life to engage in honest dialogue, quality deliberation, improved decision making and collective action.

Through our projects, online forums and biennial conferences, NCDD connects professional and grassroots practitioners, academic researchers, businesses, government officials, activists, artists, students and technologists drawn from a wide range of sectors and practices.

NCDD members include virtually all of the organizations that are breaking significant new ground in public engagement and conflict resolution – including the Center for Deliberative Democracy, Public Agenda, Everyday Democracy, National Issues Forums Institute, Viewpoint Learning, the World Cafe Community Foundation, the Deliberative Democracy Consortium, IAP2-USA, and many others.
