Friendship Public Charter School is the area's largest non-profit public school management organization, serving nearly 8,000 students from pre-school (three years old) to 12th grade on ten campuses. Friendship operates both public charter and partnership schools with Baltimore City and District of Columbia Public Schools. Since its inception in 1997, Friendship Public Charter School has enabled thousands of students in underserved communities to become real achievers. Friendship students live in some of the city’s most underserved communities where 75% are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Friendship applies its unique educational model with winning results to improve academic performance, educate the "whole child," and offer families support services with the goal of preparing 100% of our students to enter and complete college. FCPS has expanded its portfolio of schools with a new school model: Friendship Tech Prep Academy, a grade 6-12 secondary school, is in the process of empowering so many more young people with the gift of a quality education.

Friendship Tech Prep Academy is now preparing students for higher education and the career of their choice by ensuring mastery of skills, knowledge, and tools needed to succeed in the 21st century GREEN global economy.

Now seeking qualified Special Education Teachers:

Requirements:

  • Hold high academic and behavioral expectations for all students
  • Must be able to lead students to high levels of academic success in an urban school environment
  • Actively engage all stakeholders and create a welcoming, positive learning environment that motivates students
  • Maintain high standards of ethics and open communication with all stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, and school administrators
  • Consistently seek and share best practices as an active and effective participant that contributes to a Professional Learning Community
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement effective curriculum units and lesson plans
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in content area and strong pedagogy
  • Ability to develop formative assessments, analyze student data collected from interim assessments, and adjust teaching practices to ensure student understanding
  • Effectively use literacy strategies across all content areas and design rubrics to measure student mastery of standards
  • Design and deliver engaging instruction that addresses the needs of a full range of different student learning styles
  • Ability to reflect on teaching practices and make adjustments to maximize learning time
  • Adhere to school management and discipline policies within the classroom and throughout school campus

Qualifications For Special Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education required; Masters degree in Special Education is preferred
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Or Successful completion of the ETS PRAXIS II: Education of Exceptional Students (20353) maybe substituted for a degree in Special Education content
  • Two years of relevant Special Education classroom teaching experience required
  • Two years of urban teaching experience preferred
  • Commitment to teaching students from a minority and/or lower socioeconomic background required
