What Is KIPP?

KIPP, the Knowledge is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment public charter schools with a 20 year track record of preparing students with the academic and character skills needed for success in college and in life. There are currently 162 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving 58,000 students. More than 88 percent of our students are from low-income families and eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meals program, and 95 percent are African American or Latino. Nationally, more than 93 percent of KIPP middle school students have graduated high school, and more than 82 percent of KIPP alumni have gone on to college.

KIPP Jacksonville Schools

KIPP Jacksonville Schools opened the first KIPP school in Florida, KIPP Impact Middle School, in 2010. In the 2011-12 school year, KIPP Impact Middle School was the highest performing middle school in the North and Westside of Jacksonville and is currently a "B" school. Our 2nd school, KIPP VOICE Elementary, opened in 2012. KIPP Impact serves grades 5-8 and KIPP VOICE serves grades K-2, with expansion plans to add one grade level a year until it serves K-4.

Our two schools share KIPP's core values – the highest of academic expectations for every student; more time invested in core academics and the arts through extended school days; and a relentless focus on results. The ultimate goal of KIPP Jacksonville Schools is for all of our students to make it to and through college.
