WHAT IS ROTARY?Rotary is essentially a grassroots organization, with mostof its service efforts being carried out at the club level. Rotary is aworldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provideshumanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, andhelps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotariansbelong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries. The districtand international structure is designed to support the clubs and help themprovide more service in their local communities and abroad

Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's businessand professional men and women. The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and arenonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.The main objective of Rotary is service - in the community, in theworkplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community serviceprojects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children atrisk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They alsosupport programs for youth, educational opportunities and internationalexchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational andcareer development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
