  • Misión

    The Immigration Law Clinic’s mission is to help foreign born individuals and families obtain lawful immigration status in the United States. The Clinic provides legal services in the following ways: •Full representation of a client, from preparing and filing the application through a final decision; and •Screening and representing individuals who are detained by the Department of Homeland Security at the Executive Office for Immigration Review and are appearing for their first Master Calendar hearing. Student attorneys, through careful supervision and teaching, provide pro bono legal services to indigent clients. Through this work, student attorneys gain practical experience in immigration law and representing clients.

    Students at Mitchell Hamline School of Law represent indigent clients in administrative proceedings before the Immigration and Naturalization Service and Federal Court. Cases concern the immigration status of aliens. Students interview and counsel clients, research laws and regulations, write briefs, prepare for hearings, and act as trial counsel at evidentiary hearings. Heavy emphasis is placed upon active representation of clients, and cases that present novel and interesting issues of law and fact.
