The MISSION of the BDRCS is to prevent and reduce human sufferings and saves lives of the vulnerable people.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is part of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Established in 1973, The BDRCS has played a crucial humane role in the relief, rescue and rehabilitation of hundreds of thousands of victims of flood, cyclone and other natural and man-made disasters in Bangladesh.

Our assistance, affiliation and effort has saved, rescued and enhanced lives of people through our variety of activities. Our wide network of volunteers, activists and associations work together to improve disaster preparedness, awareness and rehabilitation.

Anticipating the demand of changing world and consequently strengthening the capacity of BDRCS in rendering humanitarian services, P&D Department has been endeavouring for enactment of new legal base and reformation of existing Human Resources system of the Society.

 

The BDRCS hasestablished safe and sustainable blood systems, with a particular emphasis on voluntary non-remunerated blood donation (VNRBD). Voluntary non-paid blood donors, particularly those who donate blood regularly, provide the foundation for a safe, sustainable blood supply that meets the  about 12%  of total blood demands of the country. Our  Health Department, addresses social stigmas, raises awareness and creates healthier lifestyles for our beneficiaries across some of the most dispersed regions of the country. We provide medical services through different Hospitals in Chittagong, Sylhet, Dinajpur, Gopalgonj including Holly Family Medical College Hospital in Dhaka. There are also 56 Mother and Child Health (MCH) Centres providing health services to some remotest areas of Bangladesh.  

 

Our tracing/ Restoring Family Link program trying to locate family members who have been separated due to conflict, disasters, turmoil, panic and terror and put them back into contact with their relatives. The work includes tracing people, exchanging family messages, returning families and seeking to clarify the fate of those who remain missing.

  

We create a future of responsible and adept volunteers by training youth volunteers and stationing them by the people at all times.
