Best Buddies New Mexico

Best Buddies is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. We accomplish our mission by:

• establishing Best buddies chapters on middle school, high school and university campuses;
• empowering people with intellectual disabilities to have a presence on line through E-Buddies;
• placing people with intellectual disabilities in integrated, high-paying jobs;and
• motivating our volunteers to take responsibility within their communities

Best Buddies pairs individuals with intellectual disabilities in one to one friendships with individuals without intellectual disabilities to enhance thir social skills while increasing awareness of the social isolation faced bby the intellectual disability community. According to the Hartman Study, Best Buddies success rate is over 90%. Although there are over 1400 chapters of Best Buddies in over 40countries, Best Buddies is new to New Mexico, beginning services in Jan 2009.

Best Buddies is volunteer and philantrophically and driven with 92% of its expenses program centered.

Founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in 1989, it is now the worlds largest NPO dedicated to friendships for people with intellectual disabilities. More information may be found on our website at www.bestbuddies.org
