Meridian International Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting international understanding through the exchange of people, ideas, and the arts. The Professional Exchanges Division develops professional programs for the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), and these activities lead to over 2,000 international professionals experiencing exchange and training programs in the United States each year. The programs of observation and study in the United States are on a wide variety of topics including government, communications, economics, science and technology, the arts, agriculture, labor, education, law, health, and social services. The programs are developed based on U.S. Government goals and objectives and include the development and coordination of a Washington, DC program, the initiation and oversight of local programs in other cities across the U.S., the monitoring of all fiscal and administrative matters related to grants and project budgets, preparation of project proposals, and cooperation with a wide range of U.S. Government officials, international visitor participants, staff, volunteers, and interpreters.
