The Y’s mission is our reason for being, and the Y’s cause is our mission in action — a promise to do everything in our movement’s considerable power to enrich the common good and make life better for individuals, families, and communities. Delivering our cause draws inspiration and direction from both.

More than 160 years of innovating programs and delivering transformative responses to urgent social challenges have produced and reinforced a set of basic beliefs about how and why our movement effects meaningful, enduring change. Delivering our cause is grounded in these beliefs.

To ensure youth realize their potential to become active, engaged, and thriving members of the community, the Y will nurture their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through holistic youth programming, experiences, and supports.

YMCA Youth & Family Services (YFS) is the Social Service Branch of the YMCA of San Diego County. Our unique programming has been addressing San Diego’s most pressing social issues since 1970 and we continue to expand our services to adapt to our community’s needs.

At the Y, we are committed to supporting families in their search for quality, affordable, convenient child care options based on the individual needs of the child and family. As the trusted child care resource and referral agency for San Diego County, YMCA Childcare Resource Service offer free child care referrals and resources to families.
