Gleaners For The Lord

Gleaners For The Lord has set up a network of free food programs that distributes fresh and boxed food mostly to food pantries in Northern Illinois. With a network of farms and food purveyors who provide food for free, Gleaners arranges food drops and anyone is invited to come and take the free food -- fresh vegetables and canned or boxed foods -- and stock food pantries or give to needy households. Annually the program gives more than 2 million pounds of food away. Gleaners pays for freight and tolls by hosting an annual fundraiser. No one is asked to pay for the food although donations are accepted. All those associated with Gleaners volunteer their time.
