The Community Food Club is an innovative and dignified approach to food security that is rooted in consumer choice, member participation, and access to healthy foods. The Food Club is a grocery store style environment, open six days a week. It offers an opportunity and a place for low and moderate income households to increase their food security and to improve their healthy eating by accessing nutritious food on a consistent basis. It allows member households to experience increased self-reliance and respect. They belong to the Food Club, they choose whether and when to participate; and if they do, they invest in it through a low monthly membership fee. They shop without additional cost, using points which are distributed according to household size.
