    Acerca de

The Alexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC) is a non-profit organization that recruits and trains volunteers to tutor kindergarten through second grade students who are deficient in reading skills. ATC works in partnership with the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) and the Alexandria community at large.

Tutors work one-on-one with ACPS K-2 students identified as being in need of reading support. Tutoring takes place at school during school hours.

Volunteers may tutor once or twice a week. Once-a-week-volunteers may find their own partner or ask to be paired with another tutor to ensure the weekly commitment of two 30 or 40 minute sessions is met for each child.

All volunteers receive training from ATC. Tutors are provided with lesson plans and materials customized to each child's specific needs. Volunteers must attend training, provide information for a background check and commit to a full school year. Ongoing training and support are offered.
