Made for Me Books

Founded in June 2020, Made for Me Books (MFMB) is a not for profit organization working to get a more diverse collection of books into young people's homes. We center our distribution efforts in our Harlem community focusing on students in grades K through 12. 

Diversity in books provides a mirror to young people so that they may see themselves, their families and their community reflected - and a window so that they may learn more about cultures, communities and identities other than their own. By bringing different stories into young people's homes, we encourage reading, share lesser told narratives - and build more socially conscious communities that embrace our unique experiences.

At Made for Me Books (MFMB), we work to identify stories that bring to light characters and voices that represent cultures and ethnicities, genders and family structures that have largely been underrepresented; a diversity in narratives that are just not as available to our young people.
