Our story began on December 10, 2015, two days before Co-Founder Holly Ann Wade’s 14 th birthday, when an MRI uncovered a tumor resting in the thalamus section of her brain. It was during Holly’s treatments that Holly and her parents learned of the profound financial needs of families caring for children with pediatric cancer. They met families who had to decide whether to pay a medical bill or the mortgage, or to stay with their hospitalized child or go to work. Witnessing how cancer had altered other families’ lives concerned Holly greatly and she wanted to help do something about it. Unfortunately, Holly lost her battle on July 1, 2016, but not before she worked with her mother to define the mission of the Hands for Holly Memorial Fund. Over the past three years, Hands for Holly has bridged partnerships to donate more than $450,000 to families, helping over 1,350 people.
