The Baker House mission is "mentoring, monitoring, and ministering to, high at-risk youth and the community". Newsweek magazine used Baker House President Rev. Eugene F. Rivers, 3d on its June 1998 cover to feature the article "God vs. Gangs" about faith-based organizations steering youth away from crime.
