SouthernCare

We are SouthernCare Hospice. All of our patients are terminally ill and have a life expectancy of six months or less. We have a volunteer program and have three different types of volunteer opportunities. We need administrative, activities, and patient volunteers. Our administrative volunteers work in the office and help the team secretary with paperwork, copies, and mailouts. Our activities volunteers go into different homes, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing facilities and hold activities for the residents. The patient visit volunteers are paired with a hospice patient and their family and visit and morally support them for the duration of their time on hospice care. All patients and activities are within a 50 mile radius of Harrisonburg, Virginia. SouthernCare will perform a background check, TB skin test, and provide orientation and ongoing training for the volunteers. We believe that no one who is on hospice should ever die alone. We believe firmly in death with dignity. Our patients are treated as family. We bring them cheer and try to grant last wishes when possible.
