Horizons for Homeless Children Playspace Program - West Region

Horizons for Homeless Children is an independent, nonprofit organization providing services for homeless children and their families in Massachusetts. Founded in 1988 to respond to the growing needs of homeless children and their families, it is the only organization in Massachusetts working specifically to meet the needs of homeless children.

The Playspace Program, with its Western Region office located in West Springfield, MA creates and installs Playspaces inside family homeless shelters in Western MA including Springfield, Holyoke, Amherst, Northampton, Greenfield and Pittsfield. We then recruit, train, and place volunteers from the community in these Playspaces to provide healthy, educational and fun opportunities for play that are critical for learning and growth of children living in homeless shelters. 

Our volunteers commit to 2 hours per week for at least six months. All of our volunteers attend a PAL Training prior to being placed in the shelter. Please click here for a list of our upcoming PAL Training dates and locations.
