Science Based Targets Network

Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) is currently developing the technical methodologies, targets, and tools to translate global goals (such as those set by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity) into actionable targets -- science-based targets (SBTs) -- for companies, cities and investors. In parallel, the network is working to engage with companies and cities to support and encourage them to set SBTs, to help them move from “doing a bit better” to “doing enough” to stay within Earth’s limits.

SBTN builds on the momentum of the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which has spurred roughly 850 of the world’s largest companies to commit to greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in line with climate science.

SBTN is part of the Global Commons Alliance (GCA), which is a network of 25+ leading nonprofits and influential actors focused on systems change. This unprecedented collaboration brings together powerful leadership, science, innovation, technology, and communications to positively transform the global economy and protect the global commons.
