Food at First

At Food at First, our mission is to provide nourishing meals to individuals and families experiencing hunger or food insecurity while reducing food waste by recovering and redistributing surplus food.

Food at First serves a hot meal every day of the week, 365 days a year - and hasn't missed a meal in over 20 years! Our Free Meal is prepared and served by volunteers and provides consistent meals to people in our community. Our volunteers also run a thrice-weekly Free Market where anyone who is hungry or in need of food assistance can come through and make their own grocery choices, reducing waste and increasing autonomy. Almost all food is gleaned from surrounding grocery stores and restaurants, and would have otherwise been discarded. Food at First provides structured access to hot meals and perishable food items to everyone who comes in. Everyone is welcome to our Free Meal and Free Market any time they are open.
