Brigham Young University Chinese Flagship Center, Nanjing, China

Based in Nanjing, China, the Student Support Specialist assists the Overseas Chinese Flagship Center at Nanjing University with student-related support. The contracted position will report directly to Brigham Young University (BYU). As students adjust to the academic rigors of the Chinese Flagship program they may need support with cultural, mental health, social issues, emotional issues, Title IX and other similar matters. The position is responsible for providing advocacy, support, advice, and guidance to Flagship participants towards resolving these types of situations. The position will work closely with BYU, government funding agencies, and non-profit stakeholders in resolving student matters, to receive guidance and coordinate services for students. The position will work with the Overseas Chinese Flagship Center Director on resolving student issues while protecting the privacy of the students involved. The position may communicate with domestic Flagship program directors if appropriate and as directed. The position will provide support to approximately 50-75 students each academic year and may assist in other related student matters.
