  • Misión

We provide the opportunity for adults who are deaf-blind (or low-vision/hard-of-hearing) the chance to get together with others like themselves and experience a 5-day camp/retreat every other year.

    Acerca de

Every 2 years Deaf-Blind Access of the South (DBAS) offers adults who are Deaf-Blind (or Hard-of-Hearing/Low-vision in any combination) a rare chance to get together with others like themselves and have Support Service Providers (SSPs) to enable them to communicate effortlessly.

DBAS activities and workshops require the assistance of volunteers with highly specialized training - called Support Service Providers. SSPs serve as sighted guides, communication facilitators, and interpreters. The entire event costs approximately $20,000 - which includes food, lodging, transportation to/from the airport for some, local transportation to field trips, speaker fees, adapted equipment and so much more.

Our campers pay the vast majority of the cost to attend and DBAS volunteers hold fundraisers, apply for grants, request donations, etc. to earn the remainder needed to hold the event.

Our next Camp/Retreat will be held Oct. 10-15, 2017 in Warm Springs, GA. and we are currently hard at work planning and fundraising to ensure it is another success.
