In addition to CSG's national and regional offices, The Council of State Governments maintains a Washington, D.C. Office to monitor and advise the organization on significant federal issues. Recognizing that national issues may impact CSG's regions differently, the CSG-DC office strives to represent the interests of CSG's membership, both nationally and regionally, on major issues before Congress and the Administration. CSG encourages its members to use the DC office as an ongoing resources to better understand activities taking place in the nation's capital city. Additionally the CSG-DC Office:
====== Staffs the CSG Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) Committee, whose mission is to serve as CSG's primary policy-making committee as well as the primary body responsible for setting CSG's state-federal relations agenda. Working in close coordination with the IGA Committee, the CSG D.C. office coordinates, through the CSG Legal Task Force, CSG's filing of amicus briefs on important federalism cases before the United States Supreme Court.
====== Coordinates international activities on behalf of the organization through its staffing of the North American Cooperation, as well as the State International Development Organization (SIDO), an affiliate of CSG. By working closely with Foreign Embassies, Congress, the Administration and the think tank community as well as global and regional organizations such as the UN and EU, the CSG-DC Office tracks and interprets broad developments in the global economy that impact state governments as well as trends involving specific state international initiatives in trade, education, and other key sectors.
