Book Wagon SF

The Book Wagon distributes free books at elementary schools in San Francisco. We know that books in the home make a significant difference for children. But books are expensive and library visits may not be possible so the Book Wagon fills the gap! We visit the same schools monthly, so children know us and watch for us to come.

The Book Wagon works in under resourced neighborhoods where we can make an impact. We set up in schools and three other nonprofit sites around the city. The Book Wagon is a low budget/high impact organization- there are no salaries and any grant money we are lucky to receive goes towards purchasing Spanish books, a big need.

We love giving books away and watching children pour through the books, looking for just the right book. And then they sit around the yard outside sometimes and start reading. It’s immensely rewarding.
