Muaisa Hale Pule, on the Kona Coast of Hawaii, offers a unique spiritual experience that helps renew, refresh and nourish body, mind, and spirit. Home and haven to teachers, students, healers, creatives, seekers, visionaries and travelers from around the world, we support and encourage people's interest in personal growth and natural healing. An official 501(c)(3) Chapter of the New Haven Native American Church (NHNAC) we do not engage in commerce and rely instead on donations and volunteerism for all our services.

VOLUNTEER INTERN PROGRAM (VIP)

Our Volunteer Intern (VIP) Program is open to all who care to stay in Hawaii for a month or longer and live in harmony with their natural surroundings. It is ideal for people who enjoy being of service, are willing to learn about and practice eco-sustainability, and find joy and fulfillment in personal growth and physical, emotional, mental and spiritual development. 

OUR LOCATION

Situated at 19.5 degrees North latitude in Kealakekua, we are located approximately 10 miles south of Kailua-Kona and 19.5 miles from Kona International Airport. Our lodge is 3 miles up slope (6 miles by car) from the State of Hawaii's #1 marine life sanctuary where pods of dolphins come almost daily to rest, feed, and nurse their calves. 

At 19.5 degrees, we are perched atop of one of the Earth's 10 major vortices. Ancients knew this place as "The Pathway to the God." It is a star gate portal, through which light codes enter the energetic matrix of the Earth and allow prayers and/or intentions made here to be "broadcast" to the world and beyond.

Whatever degree of involvement you care to participate in during your stay with us at Muaisa Hale Pule, just our location alone opens the opportunity for you to de-stress, commune with nature, and experience a break away from your everyday humdrum existence. It is a place at which those, who find their way here and are open to change, can re-awaken to a whole new sense of being and feeling more at home in the world. 

TYPICAL VOLUNTEER

Muaisa Hale Pule is committed to diversity. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 80 is invited to apply regardless of race, gender, social standing, spiritual belief, national origin or sexual orientation. All volunteer-interns must be capable of being responsible for their own punctuality and attendance, for maintaining interest in their duties, and for their own mental, emotional and physical welfare at all times.

This is an exceptional opportunity for extended-stay residents to live and engage on premises alongside our shaman, advisors, and natural healing practitioners. It is likewise ideal for vital and active retirees, who wish to participate in community living and offer support and experience to others

COMMITMENTS & ACCOMMODATIONS

Volunteers apply in advance for a 4- or 8-week stay. The suggested donation is $300 per week plus 15 hours of work weekly. Volunteers create their own work schedules and may be asked to contribute landscaping, maintenance, skilled trades, gardening/yard work, videography, healing arts, web site design, housekeeping, grant writing, creative writing/screenplay writing or an agreed upon combination of any of these areas.

Accommodations are private, indoors, well-appointed, "comfortably rustic," and of guest quality. Each room enjoys its own entrance and adjoining deck space with towels and linens, unlimited free WIFI, adjoining shared half-bath, access to our outdoor rainforest shower/bath, and unlimited use of the group kitchen replete with refrigerator, gas range, propane-burning barbecue grill, laundry facilities and covered picnic/dining area. 

A convenience store, hot tubs, massage therapy and kayak rentals are just a 1/2 mile walk down hill. Banks, cafes, 2 post offices, a grocery store, a McDonald's and the local Farmer's Market are all within 1 1/2 miles in either direction.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

Volunteers generally enjoy their experience with us and become an immediate part of the on-site Muaisa Hale Pule family, based in service, mutual respect, open communication, and celebration of enjoyment as the highest form of worship. Everyone on property is afforded an opportunity to work one-on-one with our shaman/healer, to apply for adoption into the New Haven Native American Church (NHNAC), and to earn certification as an NHNAC Healer/Medicine Man or Medicine Woman as part of their stay.

NHNAC dictates no official religious dogma and does not require members of other organized religious to change their religion, beliefs or affiliation. It is perfectly acceptable to become a member of our community and still maintain allegiance to another organized religion.

Should a volunteer care to practice a professional skill, trade or healing art on premises or to develop a public outlet for their products or services (ex., Reiki, yoga instruction, massage therapy, home-grown herbs or produce), a number of sheds, salas and open spaces are available on premises for creating endless possibilities. 

Every Sunday, a local Green Market takes place only 1 1/2 miles up the road. This offers residents and volunteers the opportunity to set up a canopy to earn income displaying handmade items for sale, offering on-site healing services or selling a collection of organic edibles harvested from the land. 

SPACE AVAILABILITY

All volunteer-interns are accepted on the basis of availability, experience, compatibility, skills set, eagerness to contribute and enthusiasm for what we offer. Most who apply are accepted, and positions are filled on a first come, first served basis. We encourage making arrangements in advance as space tends to fill suddenly and unexpectedly. 

HEALTH INSURANCE

It is expected that everyone on property will maintain a level of physical and emotional and mental health during their stay here with us, that each person's general health will allow them to fulfill the responsibilities they have chosen to undertake, and that everyone is responsible for their own health care treatment and costs. 

Prior to arrival, all volunteer-interns will be required to demonstrate that they have health insurance coverage in place for the full extent of their stay. International Volunteer Card (IVC) offers effective, low-cost insurance packages that are suitable for this purpose, and they donate a significant portion of their proceeds to humanitarian projects.

PROPERTY RULES & LIABILITIES

For the health and enjoyment of everyone on property, we ask that -- for the duration of their stay with us in paradise -- all guests, residents and volunteers refrain from smoking, drinking alcohol, and using recreational drugs both on- and off-premises throughout the duration of their stay. There are also no televisions or hairdryers on site; volunteers and residents are requested to come equipped with their own "ear buds" if they wish to listen to music, speaker phones, Internet videos, DVDs or any other electronic sound.

IMPORTANT: Muaisa Hale Pule cannot be held responsible for any accidental damages or injuries caused by actions contrary to our stated policies.
