Trucha began as a grassroots multimedia platform among creatives to uplift the stories, culture, and social movements of migrant and queer communities in the Rio Grande Valley, which consists of Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy, Cameron Counties. While mainstream media continued to negatively portray the RGV, we sought to change that by shifting the narrative with holistic and progressive stories for our community.
Today, our mission continues through movement journalism, documentaries, cultural programming, local partnerships with organizations, and building a strong foundation of storytellers throughout the borderlands of the RGV and Northern Mexico.
