Sister Schools teaches Puget Sound students service and social responsibility by partnering local students with children in need in Uganda. In a powerfully personal way, our students learn that no matter who they are, they can change a life.
For over 35 years, Sister Schools has been empowering students to change lives. We teach students about their peers in Uganda, introducing them to the rich culture, the many languages, and the vibrancy that inhabits this unique country in Africa. We also teach them about the struggles many Ugandan students face in pursuing an education with limited access to academic materials, and invite them to meet that need by donating new and gently-used school supplies. After delivering these gifts in Uganda, we complete the circle of transformation by returning to our local PNW schools to show their impact. Seeing photos and videos of their donated items in the hands of their peers in Uganda helps students learn the value of social engagement on a personal level. It expands their horizons and broadens their world view, inspiring them to continue engaging the world as global citizens, and to pursue a lifetime of opportunities from changing lives to traveling the world.
