Acerca de

NCAI was founded in 1944, as a representative Congress of Indian Nations. Today, NCAI is the oldest and largest tribal government organization in the United States and serves as a forum for consensus-based policy development among its membership. NCAI is the most representative national Indian organization devoted to promoting and protecting the rights and interests of tribal governments.

Our mission is to serve as a forum for unified policy development among tribal governments in order to protect and advance tribal governance and treaty rights; promote economic development, health, welfare in American Indian and Alaska Native communities; and educate the public toward a better understanding of American Indian and Alaska Native tribes.

In addition to extensive legislative efforts, NCAI participates in a range of other programs and projects including our Native Vote project, Tribal Supreme Court project and many more. Our Policy Research Center was formed in 2003 to serve as a think tank focused on issues facing tribal communities. Guided by a diverse and distinguished advisory council, the PRC's vision is to support Indian Country in shaping its own future. To learn more about NCAI’s work go to our website: www.ncai.org.
