National Veterans Homeless Support

National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness among veterans in Central Florida. Founded in 2008, NVHS takes a proactive, community-based approach to helping veterans and their families overcome housing instability and build a path toward long-term stability and independence.

Our work centers on three core programs: Search & Rescue, which combines street outreach with homelessness prevention and case management; Transitional Housing, which provides safe, supportive housing for veterans working toward permanent stability; and PTSA, which promotes awareness and connection through community education and therapeutic activities.

NVHS believes veteran homelessness is not an inevitable problem—it is one that communities can solve. Since our founding, veteran homelessness in Brevard County has declined by approximately 90%, demonstrating what is possible through persistent outreach, strong partnerships, and individualized support.

Volunteers are an important part of our mission. Whether helping with community outreach, events, administrative and program support, professional expertise, or other specialized projects, volunteers expand our ability to serve veterans and strengthen the community around them.
