Reef Revive focuses on technologies used to rebuild reef habitats in areas where natural coral has been destroyed by natural, or man-made disasters. We research new 3D printing techniques that can be used to improve artificial reefs and help coral transplanting become faster with a higher success rate.

Reefs provide a habitat for 25% of ocean life, a primary food source for millions of U.S. citizens, much-needed ingredients for pharmaceuticals, and are they key to many coastal tourism economies.

However, because they are out of sight, reefs are often ignored. As of this moment, living corals are becoming bleached at a rate of over 3,000 sq ft per second, and current coral restoration efforts are falling behind.
