The Mexican Commission of Defense and Human Rights Promotion (CMPDPH) is a civil organization, secular, autonomous and independently established under the regime of non-profit civil associations, founded in December 1989.

Its geographic range of incidences focuses in Mexico so that all activities in the local and international level are intended to impact on the structure and Mexican government policy in order to achieve the greatest range of protection and enjoyment of human rights and social justice in the national territory. The CMDPDH considers all the ideological positions that match to democracy, the need to defend the rule of law and the respect for human rights as the foundation of social life.

The CMDPDH has consultative status by the Organization of American States (OAS) and is affiliated to the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). At the national scope is a member of the Mexican Coalition for the International Criminal Court [Coalición Mexicana por la Corte Penal Internacional], of the Coordination on Economic Rights, Social and Cultural Rights in Mexico [Espacio de Coordinación sobre Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales en México - ESPACIO DESC], Mexican Chapter of the American Platform of Human Rights, Democracy and Development [Capítulo Mexicano de la Plataforma Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, Democracia y Desarrollo] and the Citizens' Observatory for Monitoring the Delivery of Justice in Cases of femicide in Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua [Observatorio Ciudadano para Monitorear la Impartición de Justicia en los Casos de Feminicidio en Ciudad Juárez y Chihuahua].

At the international scope is a member of the International Network for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Coalition of Organizations for Human Rights in the Americas.

Amongst its objectives are, to defend human rights from strategic litigation strategies, spread information regarding defense cases of human rights in Mexico in general; collaborate with individuals, organizations, government institutions, international institutions that participate in defense, promotion, diffusion or instruction of human rights; to foment the formation of groups dedicated to the defense and diffusion of human rights; to participate and promote the organization of debates, courses, and conferences about human rights, its diffusion and instruction, as well as to share and publish the results of its actions.
