Fueled by dreams and hosted in a culture of silence, youth sports participants are uniquely vulnerable to abuse. Seventy-five percent of youth athletes are verbally abused (27M are under the age of 13), 10 out of every 100 hundred youth battle eating disorders – intense coaching and body shaming are said to be the prime reason in sport, and athletes are 60% more likely to experience depression than non-athletes. They are thirty percent more likely to be sexually assaulted.
